72 Hours in Milan

This is the kind of city where casual still means you thought about your outfit three business days in advance for the past five months.

Start with Milano Centrale, because train stations are rarely allowed to be this dramatic. It is grand, cinematic, the prefect farewell in any romcom. From there, head toward Piazza Gae Aulenti and Bosco Verticale for modern Milan: glass, greenery, skyline, and Duomo di Milano. It isn’t subtle, it’s Gothic, the Beyoncé of Milan. Go early, take the rooftop seriously, and prepare for the kind of photos that make people say, “That’s Hot.”

Next door is Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, which is technically a shopping arcade but spiritually a luxury runway with a ceiling. The glass dome, tiled floors, and designer storefronts make it feel like capitalism discovered opera, even if you buy nothing, the building itself is the experience.

For old Milan, walk through Brera. Brera is romantic, with cobblestones, balconies, galleries, little restaurants, and the soft confidence of a neighborhood that’s been photographed from every angle and still has range. Then continue to Sforza Castle and Parco Sempione, where Milan reminds you that it has history under all that polish.

End in Navigli, where the canals turn golden and everyone seems to be holding an aperitivo like it is a personality trait.

Morning: Arrive in Milan, Keep the first day relaxed since travel days can be tiring.

Afternoon: Walk around the Milan Centrale area, then head toward Piazza Gae Aulenti and Corso Como for modern Milan.

Evening: Dinner with a View: The document suggests options such as Terrazza Gallia and Savô Pizzeria Gourmet. Terrazza Gallia is especially good for a more elevated city-view dinner.
